2017 ICC Awards

The Indiana Cancer Consortium is seeking nominations for the 2016 ICC annual awards. There are four awards given, including: Outstanding Contributions to Cancer Control Individual Award (also known as the Anna Miller Award), the ICC Outstanding Contributions to Cancer Control Organization Award, the David Caldwell Survivorship Award, and Cancer Control Champions.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 10 and awardees will be recognized during the 2017 ICC Annual Meeting.

ICC Outstanding Contributions to Cancer Control Individual Award

  • Must be a member of the ICC
  • Dedicates life to cancer prevention and control
  • Makes major contributions to cancer control in the area(s) of primary prevention, early detection, treatment, quality of life, data, and/or advocacy
  • Demonstrates on-going commitment to the ICC
  • Previous awardees include – Anna Miller (2008), Dr. Steve Williams (2009), Dr. Vicki Champion (2010), Dr. William Dugan (2011), Dr. Robert Goulet (2012), Vicki Rakowski (2013), Dr. Greg Wilson (2014), Keylee Wright (2015), Sara Edgerton (2016)

ICC Outstanding Contributions to Cancer Control Organization Award

  • Must be an organizational member of the ICC
  • Dedicates mission and organizational goals to cancer prevention and control
  • Makes major contributions to cancer control in the area(s) of primary prevention, early detection, treatment, quality of life, data, and/or advocacy
  • Demonstrates on-going commitment to the ICC
  • Contributes to the implementation of the Indiana Cancer Control Plan through generous in-kind support, i.e. donating staff time, meeting space, food, etc.
  • Previous Award Winners – Indiana Minority Health Coalition (2011), Little Red Door Cancer Agency (2012), Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Central Indiana (2013), Schneck Medical Center (2014), Outrun the Sun (2015), Deaconess Health System (2016)

David Caldwell Survivorship Award

  • Must be a cancer survivor (current patient survivors and post-cancer survivors)
  • Committed to reducing the burden of cancer in Indiana through cancer control and prevention
  • Exemplifies outstanding leadership and empowers cancer survivors and advocates
  • Previous Award Winner – David Caldwell (2011), Gene Bednarek (2012), Lisa Hayes (2013), Karen O’Brien (2014), Renee Twibell (2015), Valerie Frazier (2016)

Cancer Control Champions

  • Must be a member of the ICC
  • Exhibits leadership in implementing the Indiana Cancer Control Plan through participation in ICC action teams, committees, and local cancer control coalitions
