ICC Survivorship Kick-Off Meeting

This meeting is hosted by the Indiana Cancer Consortium (ICC), Indiana State Department of Health, and the George Washington Cancer Institute.

As of December 31, 2015, there were an estimated 329,986 cancer survivors in Indiana for all cancers combined. It is increasingly important to ensure everyone diagnosed and treated for cancer achieves the highest level of quality of life possible. Cancer survivorship focuses on the health and life of a person beyond the acute phase of diagnosis and treatment. Indiana can significantly improve the quality of life for cancer survivors and their caregivers by implementing policy, systems, and environmental changes; supporting provider education and training; and improving patient access to care, education, and programming.

Survivorship is a critical coponent of the comprehensive cancer prevention and control spectrum and the ICC is dedicated to starting a statewide Survivorship Committee to champion and support survivorship objectives, goals, and recommendations.

On Monday, August 13, the ICC is partnering with the George Washington Cancer Institute to host the first Survivorship Kick-Off Meeting from 2:00-4:00 p.m. EST at the Indiana State Department of Health’s Rice Auditorium in Indianapolis (2 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis IN). We invite all ICC members, colleagues, and stakeholders to join us as we introduce survivorship strategies and objectives from the Indiana Cancer Control Plan 2018-2020 (ICCP), policy, system, and environmental change approaches in cancer survivorship, and cross-cutting training opportunities.

Registration is free, but required. Please complete the registration form to save your spot as seats are limited.

In addition, we are requesting that all those registering for the event complete a brief survey (10 minutes) no later than August 3, 2018 by following the link below. This questionnaire will help narrow down topics by ranking strategies under each ICCP objective to help guide the Survivorship Committee agenda.
